Matt’s Film Cellar is Back!!! Breaking News!!!

The Cellar has been locked up for a while, however with another Superman movie in the works…the green light has illuminated the cellar once again.

Man of Steel was a big hit and will be out on Blu Ray and DVD next week!!! Also, the rumors have taken flight in what is turning out to be a prequel to a Justice League film.

Laurence Fishburne is Superman’s Boss!!

Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast of Zach Snyder’s “Man of Steel” film. Mr. Fishburne will take on the role of the infamous Editor-in-Cheif of the Daily Planet – Perry White.

Fishburne, famous to genre fans for his role as Morpheus in “The Matrix” and Jimmy Jump in “King of New York” (my favorite), will join Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix for the film, currently in production.

Man of Steel is set for release on a later date of the Summer of 2013.

Crowe to Be or not to Be…Jor El???

Russell Crowe has been rumored to portray Superman’s biological father Jor-El in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

I wonder what the Kryptonian scientist thought about circumcision???

Variety exclusively broke the news of Crowe’s probable casting, saying that producer Christopher Nolan had long wanted a huge name to play the Man of Steel’s Kryptonian father. According to the piece, Sean Penn and Clive Owen were both considered but Crowe was the first choice to portray Jor-El.

Crowe will be joining Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon and Antje Traue in the new film, coming to the silver screen in June 2013.

Christopher Nolan, Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder are producing the anticipated film, which is expected to start shooting next month in Illinois.

Kneel Before Zod!!

Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) as been casted as the Kryptonian militant bad boy, General Zod. Michael Shannon has been added to an impressive cast for Zach Snyder’s upcoming Superman film.

Snyder stated, “Zod is not only one of Superman’s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don’t. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role.”

As General Zod, Shannon will attempt with great passion to bring Henry Cavill to his knees, who plays the new Clark Kent/Superman in the film titled Man of Steel. The main cast also includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent. Man of Steel is projected to be release in June 2013.

Amy Adams is Lois Lane!

Amy Adams has been casted to play Lois Lane in the next Superman film. Amy Adams will star opposite Henry Cavill, who plays the new Clark Kent/Superman in the film. The main cast also includes Diane Lane and Kevin Costner, as Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Amy definitely has the acting ability to portray Lane and holds similar traits that will naturally flow through the character and assist in defining the new generation’s Lois Lane.

Director Zach Snyder said, “What’s important to us is making [the character of Superman] relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes,” Snyder said. “That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”
